Welcome
Welcome to the new Shakespeare’s Coffee Shop in the heart of Upholland.
Inspired by William Shakespeare and beautifully designed to represent an old English study, the stylish renovation is nearly complete. Customers are invited to sit and chat in luxury and enjoy a range of coffees, teas and fresh cakes.
Shakespeare’s is situated in the old library building on Hallgreen and stocks a wide selection of new books, including many international best sellers and a new section inspired by the world of arts and culture. It is also the home of “The Leadership Club Podcast”, hosted by Artz Director Mark Ashton and boasts an extensive collection of books on mindset, leadership and personal development.
Like traditional library services, the community are invited to borrow books free of charge and return them when read; In exchange for something new. Like Shakespeare himself, the coffee shop is actively promoting reading and the joy of the written word. It is also a part of The Artz Centre family giving unrivalled access to talented artists and musicians in a bid to create a new opportunity for quality live music and evenings of entertainment.
Don’t be fooled by the coffee shops vintage vibe; it may look and feel like a throwback to bygone times but this is a very forward thinking organisation with every high tech feature you could imagine; who have seamlessly managed to combine hand woven rugs and Chesterfield sofas with QR codes and Apple Pay.
In an exclusive interview with Director Mark Ashton, he outlined the one thing that he and his team will be focussing on;
“After a year in lockdown we wanted to create something extra special, something remarkable in which the community could be proud. Now more than ever we understand the importance of human relationships and we want Shakespeare’s to be a place in which people come together to connect, communicate and collaborate. The design is meant to feel nostalgic, a place to tell stories and a place that inspires new ideas for the future.
For us it is important that people feel welcome, the type of place where you can sit for hours and enjoy the company of family and friends. The coffee shop also provides a warm and friendly backdrop for people wanting an alternative to their office, those who need a place to meet up or those wanting a quiet corner to reflect. To put simply, our focus is on people and the importance of human relationships.
We have always put an emphasis on quality. We understand that it’s the little details that make the biggest differences. I have become increasingly frustrated by businesses and organisations who continue to cut corners to save money at the expense of their reputation and customer experience. We look forward to welcoming the community to become part of Shakespeare’s exciting new chapter.”
